Article probably postponed

New York Times contacted me about my article. Apparently, Harriet Miers is more important. Anyway, it turns out I didn’t write an Entertainment piece, I wrote an Op-Ed piece. So what with Miers withdrawing, there may not be room on Saturday for something about James Bond.

I’ll be in Memphis over the weekend so I’ll just wait & see.

Update: Okay, definitely postponed. They’re still interested, but the SCOTUS dance has them distracted.

Everything’s fine at home

I forgot to tell y’all that Barbara & Charlie & Sylvia and the cute cat and the ugly cat are all fine, and living happily in Naples by candlelight.

Also I forgot to tell you that Arthur’s hair is a color not found in nature. Except in geraniums.

Do you suppose…

Now that Harriet Miers’s nomination has been withdrawn, do you suppose she’ll be hired as a consultant to determine what went wrong with the nomination process?

Just wondering.

New York Times, Saturday, Oct. 29

…that’s the expected date of publication for my article on Daniel Craig & the Bond franchise. Just figures I’ll be in Memphis and won’t be able to line my house with copies.

Now it’s Wilma

I heard on the radio this morning that Naples, Florida has been evacuated. That’s where Barbara and family live. Now I’m stressed. Last time there was an evacuation order she got all stubborn and didn’t go, and as it turned out, she didn’t need to go. They usually don’t in that area, increasing the recalcitrance of the residents.

I sure hope Katrina made her realize that evacuation is sometimes A Good Idea™.
