  1. Roberta says:

Yup. Being here first is sometimes no damn help.

  2. Tom Hilton says:

    Is #3 The Prestige?

  3. Melville says:

    #5 is High Plains Drifter.
    #6 is The Shawshank Redemption.

#3 sounds incredibly familiar. Did you mention it here recently?

  4. deblipp says:

Sorry Tom, no. But Mel has 2 right. I believe I have never mentioned #3 here.

  5. Ken says:

    #1 – Hellboy

  6. Daven says:

Number 7 is “Hunt for Red Oktober”

  7. Daven says:

My wife knows #2. Mary says “Sleeping with the Enemy”

The theme I’m going to take a stab at. Produced/Directed by the person starring.

  8. Daven says:

OH!!! Number 1 is “Hellboy”. I KNEW I knew it someplace.

  9. Josh K says:

The theme isn’t “based on a book”, is it?

  10. George says:

The theme is “George doesn’t know any of the answers.”

  11. deblipp says:

Hellboy and Red October are right, Sleeping with the Enemy is not, and no one has guessed the theme. (Except George.)

George, I’m pretty sure you know #2. It’s the kind of movie you know. For that matter, it’s the kind of movie Mel knows. For that matter, I am sure Tom has seen it.

  12. Trevor J says:

The theme is red, either in the title or featured prominently somehow in the film via character name or the color itself.

    #3 The Red Shoes
    #4 The Thin Red Line

    Still can’t figure out #2.

  13. deblipp says:

Trevor, that’s 100% right. I’m sure now, with the theme revealed, someone will be able to guess #2.

  14. Melville says:

Very clever use of the theme.

But I still can’t get #2. 🙁 It’s not Red, Reds, or Red Beard.

  15. Trevor J says:

    Or Red Dawn.

I haven’t seen it, but is it Raise the Red Lantern?

  16. deblipp says:

Not Reds, Red, Red Beard, Red Dawn, or Raise the Red Lantern.

The word “red” is not in the title.

I just looked up the plot synopsis to make sure my clue is accurate, as it’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but I’ve definitely got it right.

  17. Evn says:

    #2 is Marnie.

  18. deblipp says:

    Yay!

  19. Evn says:

The red association is two-fold: Marnie was afraid of it, and it’s the color my mother turns whenever she watches a Sean Connery movie.

  20. deblipp says:

All women turn that color when watching Connery. It’s like a thing.
