  1. Roberta says:

    #4 It’s a Wonderful Life
    #5 You’ve Got Mail
    #6 Superman II?
#7 An Unmarried Woman (total guess)

  2. deblipp says:

Roberta knows her kisses (wrong on 7, though)!

  3. TehipiteTom says:

7 is Better than Chocolate, I think.
1 is Grosse Pointe Blank (and IIRC, the one who gives him the pen is Whedon trifecta actor Carlos Jacott)

  4. Roberta says:

I am a big fan of the kissing.

  5. deblipp says:

Shit, Tom, now I have to rewatch Grosse Point Blank.

  6. TehipiteTom says:

Gee, that sucks. 😉 Did you have a different movie in mind, or do you need to rewatch for Carlos Jacott?

  7. deblipp says:

No, I love GPB, and it’s what I had in mind, but now I have to find out if it’s really Jacott.

  8. TehipiteTom says:

Carlos Jacott is definitely in Grosse Pointe Blank (so is K. Todd Freeman, aka Mr. Trick); I’m just not 100% sure it’s the Carlos Jacott character who gives him the pen.

  9. Roberta says:

Mr. Trick was like the best dusting, EVER.

  10. deblipp says:

Mr. Trick is the FBI agent; Azaria’s partner. I had a long, long, LONG “who is that guy?” before I finally figured it out.

  11. norbizness says:

Couldn’t #6 be Ice Pirates? That movie was kickass.

I think #2 is poor Yaphet Kotto in Live and Let Die.

  12. deblipp says:

Norbizness, the risk of running these quizzes is that the question might always apply to a movie I haven’t seen. But #2 is indeed the amazing inflatable Yaphet.

  13. TehipiteTom says:

#3 sounded really, really familiar. I googled it, and now I’m kicking myself for not having gotten it.

  14. deblipp says:

#3 is the kind of thing that George or Melville usually snatch up after the rest are solved. 😀

  15. Melville says:

#3 is the kind of thing that George or Melville usually snatch up after the rest are solved.

Nope, sorry not this week. Not ringing a bell. 🙁

  16. deblipp says:

It’s a tough clue, and I wouldn’t have thought of it if I hadn’t watched the movie on Sunday, but you’ll thunk yourself.

Hints may go up late tomorrow, I have a day booked.

  17. […] site has been down most of the day. Sorry. I’ll get a hint up for our last remaining trivia question in the next few minutes. Filed under: Site News — deblipp @ 9:39 […]

  18. Melville says:

    Gah! It’s The Maltese Falcon!

That reminds me of my favorite trivia trick question from before the days of imdb.com. Ask “Who played Floyd Thursby in The Maltese Falcon?” Everyone remembers the character’s name, and they would drive themselves crazy trying to remember the actor, always forgetting that we never actually see him. 🙂

  19. deblipp says:

You can completely hear Bogart saying it; “Thurrrrsby.”

  20. FWIW, there is no such thing as a “semi-automatic” revolver. I am sure that Wikipedia would be your friend here.

  21. deblipp says:

I pulled the “semi-automatic” off of a Wikipedia page or the IMDb page about this particular gun, which has all sorts of weirdness. But as you know, I am the exact opposite of a gun expert. Gun expertise actually dissipates when it comes near me.
