Good thoughts for Gov. Corzine

New Jersey Governor (and former Senator) John Corzine is in critical condition following a car accident.

Gov. Jon Corzine remains in intensive care this morning with a breathing tube in his throat and a doctor declaring him lucky to be alive.

The 60-year-old governor underwent about two hours of surgery last night to repair multiple broken bones, including 12 ribs and a femur that protruded through the skin of his thigh, following a car accident on the Garden State Parkway in Galloway Township.

Corzine is a staunch liberal, was an excellent Senator (I know less about how he’s doing as Governor) and is, by most accounts, a good and likeable guy. I think my sister and my mother both have crushes on him.

So here’s my candle for his full and speedy recovery.

My dad has always liked him, too, because he represents the balding, paunchy, bearded male demographic so well…

  3. Roberta says:

    He is WAAY not paunchy.

It’s funny that I never thought of the balding, paunchy, bearded male demographic as in need of representation before.

I never thought the Mr. Universe Movie Star demographic needed representation either, but we’ve got that too…

No, really, my dad was very excited that someone who kind of sort of looked like him could be governor. It was like a revelation, on par with the realization that someone like that could pitch for the NY Yankees. Something he had never before thought could be done…

Wait…someone who looks like your dad pitches for the Yankees? I know I don’t know much about sports, but…

  7. Cathy says:

Well, David Wells, in a way… and then there was always Babe Ruth…

No, what I mean is that it seemed like just as much of a long shot to attain either position for someone of that particular demographic. I think Corzine is something of a hero to my dad for breaking down the balding, bearded barrier in today’s day of televised politics.

I think your dad should run for Congress.

  9. Cathy says:

I plan to run for Congress.

Very cool. I’ll vote for you if you’re in my district (which I doubt will happen).

And if your dad runs, there will be two of you in Congress.
